Kuwait has introduced a new online service for domestic workers and drivers. The initiative comes through cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities.
Digital Platform Simplifies Recruitment Process
The Ministry of Interior partnered with the Public Authority for Manpower. Additionally, the ministryโs IT sector supported the project. Citizens and expatriate residents can now access services through the government application โSahl.โ
According to Kuwaiti media, the initiative supports ongoing government digitalization efforts. Moreover, authorities aim to simplify recruitment procedures and residency-related services. The new system also reduces the need for visits to government offices.
Under the digital platform, applicants can submit requests and complete procedures online. As a result, the process is expected to save time and improve efficiency. Officials believe the service will streamline administrative operations across various departments.
New Sponsorship Rules Announced
Alongside the online service, authorities introduced updated sponsorship regulations. Under the new rules, unmarried women may sponsor one domestic worker or housemaid.
Meanwhile, married, divorced, or widowed women with children can sponsor one domestic worker and one driver. Similarly, married, divorced, or widowed men living with their families may sponsor up to three domestic workers and one driver.
However, unmarried men may only sponsor one driver. Authorities said these regulations aim to improve oversight and prevent misuse of services.
Furthermore, officials stated that the updated framework promotes transparency and strengthens monitoring mechanisms. The ministry added that digital processing will make application reviews more organized and efficient.
The government expects the new measures to enhance service delivery while ensuring greater convenience for applicants. Consequently, users will benefit from faster and more streamlined procedures.
