The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity prices by Rs. 0.52 per unit. The regulator approved the increase under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.
This marks the second consecutive electricity price hike announced within one week. According to NEPRA’s notification, the latest increase falls under the second quarterly adjustment of the current fiscal year.
The latest decision will place an estimated additional burden of Rs. 12.67 billion on electricity consumers. Therefore, households and businesses across Pakistan will face higher electricity bills.
New Rates Apply for Three Months
Consumers will pay an additional Rs. 0.52 per unit during September, October, and November 2026. The revised charges will apply nationwide under the approved quarterly adjustment.
The increase will also affect consumers served by K-Electric. Consequently, electricity users across different regions will face additional costs during the three-month period.
NEPRA’s latest decision comes shortly after another major increase. The regulator continues to adjust electricity tariffs through monthly and quarterly mechanisms.
Second Electricity Hike Within One Week
On September 4, NEPRA approved a Rs. 2.06 per unit increase. That adjustment came under the monthly adjustment mechanism and added further pressure on consumers.
The latest Rs. 0.52 per unit increase will create additional financial pressure. Moreover, consumers will have to absorb both adjustments through their electricity bills.
The repeated increases could further raise monthly household expenses across Pakistan. Meanwhile, consumers are awaiting relief as electricity costs continue to rise.
