Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has directed authorities to begin work on establishing 72 Chief Minister Model Schools. The initiative forms a key part of the provincial governmentโs education reform agenda. Officials discussed the project during a high-level meeting held in Peshawar on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Afridi instructed the education department to immediately develop the required legal framework. He emphasized that the schools would offer modern educational facilities and innovative teaching methods. Furthermore, the institutions will employ highly trained faculty members to ensure quality education.
Government Prioritizes Education Reforms
The chief minister reiterated that quality education remains a fundamental right of every child. Therefore, the provincial government continues efforts to improve educational standards throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also stated that education reforms remain among the administrationโs highest priorities.
Afridi noted that authorities are introducing sustainable measures to address longstanding challenges. Additionally, he expressed his determination to make the model schools a benchmark for educational excellence. According to the chief minister, investment in education strengthens human capital and supports long-term development.
Officials Outline School Framework
During the briefing, officials presented details of the proposed initiative and its framework. They informed the meeting that 72 model schools for boys and girls will be established. Moreover, the schools will be distributed across all districts of the province during the next fiscal year.
The estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 9.5 billion. Officials also revealed plans to create a dedicated legal and regulatory structure. In addition, a centralized board of governors will supervise governance and management.
The briefing further highlighted that the schools will adopt a distinct curriculum and assessment system. Consequently, the educational framework will differ from the conventional public school model. Officials said the curriculum will align with modern educational standards and future workforce demands.
Provincial Education Minister Arshad Ayub Khan and senior education department officials attended the meeting.
