Leadership Change After Ali Nasir Rizvi’s Transfer
Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, replacing Ali Nasir Rizvi.
According to sources, Rizvi is moving to a new role as Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The appointment marks a major leadership change in the federal capital’s police department.
Chaudhry brings extensive experience in field policing, administration and law-enforcement operations.
Experienced Officer Takes Charge of Islamabad Police
Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry has served in several important positions within Punjab Police.
He previously worked as Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, where he managed traffic enforcement and urban mobility operations.
He also served as City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad, overseeing policing and security operations in the major industrial city.
Chaudhry has held the position of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore, managing operational strategies and crime-control measures.
He also served as DIG Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan.
Focus on Security and Crime Control
Throughout his career, Chaudhry has handled key responsibilities related to operational policing, counterterrorism and public security.
His experience includes managing large police formations, responding to security challenges and improving law-enforcement coordination.
His appointment comes at a time when Islamabad Police continues to face challenges related to security management, public safety and crime prevention.
The new IG is expected to focus on strengthening policing systems and improving law-and-order operations in the federal capital.
