Two education officials in Fatehjang have been suspended following allegations of corporal punishment involving a sixth-grade student at a government school.
Authorities have also ordered an inquiry into the incident after the student’s mother filed a formal complaint.
Two School Officials Suspended
The suspended officials are Mohammad Hanif, headteacher, and Mohammad Saleem, an elementary science teacher at Government Elementary Boys School, Kamra.
District education authorities initiated disciplinary proceedings against both officials under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006.
District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Mohammad Azhar confirmed the suspensions. He said the action followed the mother’s allegation that her son had received corporal punishment at the school.
The authorities will now investigate the allegations and determine the facts surrounding the incident.
Punjab Has Banned Corporal Punishment
