The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started a major network upgrade across its digital infrastructure. The initiative aims to improve network stability, security, reliability and overall service performance. Additionally, the authority expects long-term operational improvements after the maintenance concludes.
DIRBS Services May Experience Temporary Interruptions
According to PTA, the scheduled upgrade began at 5:00 PM on June 24, 2026. The maintenance activity continued until 6:00 AM on June 25, 2026.
During this period, services linked to the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) may experience temporary disruptions. Consequently, users registering mobile devices online could face delays or intermittent access issues.
PTA advised users to expect limited service availability while technical teams complete the upgrade process. However, the authority said engineers are closely monitoring the network to minimise inconvenience.
Upgrade Aims to Improve Digital Infrastructure
PTA said the maintenance forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital systems. The authority also seeks to improve the quality of services for consumers and telecom stakeholders.
Furthermore, the network upgrade will enhance cybersecurity, operational efficiency and overall service reliability. These improvements are expected to provide a more secure digital environment across Pakistan.
PTA assured users that all affected services will resume as quickly as possible after maintenance ends. Meanwhile, the authority thanked consumers and industry stakeholders for their patience and cooperation throughout the scheduled upgrade.
