The Punjab government has launched Phase 2 of the CM Electric Bike Scheme under the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The initiative follows other student-focused programs, including the Honhaar Scholarship and laptop schemes. The e-bike registration portal is now open for eligible students.
Within two days, 432,000 students from across Punjab reportedly registered for the scheme. Registration for 265,000 students is currently underway.
Students can submit applications until October 4 through the official e-bike portal.
Who Can Apply for CM E-Bike Scheme?
Applicants must have a Punjab domicile or valid Punjab identity card. They must also be regular students at an HEC-recognized government or private degree college or university.
Students must be at least 18 years old to qualify for the scheme.
Applicants must also hold either a learner driving licence or a motorcycle driving licence.
Only one student from each family can receive an electric bike under the scheme.
Students to Pay Rs3,028 Monthly
The Punjab government has waived the down payment for students participating in the CM Electric Bike Scheme.
The provincial government will also cover the interest and insurance costs associated with the scheme.
Students receiving an electric bike will therefore pay only Rs3,028 per month.
Moreover, each successful applicant will receive a helmet and safety rod free of cost. Students will also receive two days of e-bike training.
E-Bikes to Be Delivered Within Six Weeks
The government aims to make the scheme more accessible by reducing the financial burden on students.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to take steps to provide the e-bikes within six weeks after the application process is completed. The initiative aims to support students with affordable transportation while encouraging safer and more accessible travel across Punjab.
