The QS World University Rankings 2027 placed 18 Pakistani universities among 1,504 leading institutions worldwide. However, no Pakistani university secured a position within the global top 350 this year. Several leading universities also slipped in the latest international rankings.
Leading Universities Lose Ground
Quaid-e-Azam University dropped from 354th to 381st position in the latest rankings. Likewise, the National University of Sciences and Technology fell from 371st to 384th place. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences recorded a notable improvement. The university climbed from 721st to 560th position worldwide.
The University of Punjab declined from 542nd to 588th place. Similarly, Lahore University of Management Sciences dropped from 555th to 608th position. However, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad improved from 654th to 629th. COMSATS University Islamabad also advanced from 664th to 639th place.
Mixed Results Across Higher Education
Government College University Faisalabad secured 691st position, while UET Lahore ranked 791st globally. Aga Khan University and the University of Peshawar entered the 951โ1000 ranking bracket. Furthermore, Bahauddin Zakariya University and the University of Lahore placed in the 1001+ category.
Riphah International University, the University of Karachi, and UMT Lahore ranked in the 1201+ band. Additionally, the International Islamic University Islamabad and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur entered the 1401+ category. Although the University of Karachi remained among the world’s top 1,500 universities, no university from Balochistan appeared in the latest QS rankings.
