Wheat Board Reviews National Production and Market Situation
Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has said the federal and provincial governments will take all necessary measures to prevent hoarding, strengthen market monitoring, and ensure wheat remains available at affordable prices.
He made the remarks while chairing the 9th Wheat Board meeting in Islamabad. The meeting reviewed the country’s wheat production, availability, procurement, and current market prices.
During the session, the Wheat Board carried out a detailed assessment of the national wheat situation. Provincial representatives informed the meeting that sufficient wheat stocks are available across the country.
Board Confirms Sufficient Wheat Reserves
Officials told the meeting that no province is facing a wheat shortage. They also confirmed that the country has achieved its estimated wheat production target for the current season.
After reviewing the available data, the Wheat Board unanimously agreed that Pakistan has adequate wheat reserves to meet domestic demand.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of effective market management. Provincial governments were urged to monitor wheat supplies closely and respond quickly to any disruptions.
Government Orders Stronger Market Monitoring
Rana Tanveer Hussain directed all relevant authorities to maintain close coordination and strengthen oversight of the wheat market.
He instructed officials to take immediate action against hoarding and other practices that could disrupt wheat supplies or cause unjustified price increases.
Moreover, the minister stressed the need for timely intervention to protect consumers from artificial shortages and unnecessary price hikes.
The government believes that stronger coordination between federal and provincial authorities will help maintain a stable wheat supply. These efforts also aim to ensure that wheat remains available to consumers at reasonable prices across Pakistan.
