Pakistan has strongly rejected allegations by the Afghan Taliban regarding violence in Badakhshan. Officials described the claims as baseless and unsupported by evidence.
The response came after Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid alleged that Pakistani authorities were physically involved in the unrest. Pakistan denied any role in supporting or accompanying armed opposition groups.
The Ministry of Information issued a statement on X. It said no credible evidence had been presented to support the accusations.
Pakistan Dismisses Allegations as Unfounded
According to the ministry, the claims do not reflect the facts on the ground. Officials stated that the allegations were entirely false.
The ministry added that the violence in Badakhshan stems from Afghanistan’s internal security and governance challenges. Therefore, it cannot be linked to Pakistani interference.
Furthermore, officials pointed to independent reports on the clashes. They noted that such reporting has not established any Pakistani involvement.
Government Urges Taliban to Address Internal Issues
The ministry stated that Pakistan has consistently supported a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. It emphasized that Islamabad has no interest in destabilising its neighbour.
Officials urged the Afghan Taliban to focus on addressing domestic governance issues. They argued that growing challenges inside Afghanistan require internal solutions.
The statement further said that accusations without evidence cannot replace facts. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to constructive relations and regional stability.
The government maintained that the situation in Badakhshan reflects local dynamics. It also stressed that responsibility for resolving those issues rests with Afghan authorities.
