The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next two days. The revised rates will take effect on August 26 and 27.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, petrol prices have increased by Rs 1.12 per litre. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel prices have risen by Rs 1.11 per litre.
Following the adjustment, petrol will sell at Rs 343.10 per litre. Similarly, HSD will be available at Rs 371.80 per litre.
New Fuel Prices Effective for Two Days
The government continues to impose significant taxes and duties on petroleum products. Petrol carries taxes and duties of Rs 114 per litre.
Meanwhile, diesel remains subject to taxes and duties of Rs 100 per litre. These charges remain unchanged under the latest revision.
Officials said the revised prices will remain effective on August 26 and 27. Consumers will pay the updated rates at fuel stations nationwide.
Daily Pricing Linked to Global Market Trends
Despite the latest increase, diesel prices remain below their April peak. HSD reached Rs 520.35 per litre on April 3.
Petrol also remains lower than its highest recorded level. The product peaked at Rs 458.41 per litre on April 3.
Earlier, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced a new pricing mechanism. Under the revised policy, authorities will now determine fuel prices daily.
The minister said the decision reflects volatility in international oil markets. Rising tensions between Iran and the United States have contributed to price fluctuations worldwide.
