KARACHI: Karachi Additional Inspector General Azad Khan said on Friday that investigators uncovered possible foreign involvement in an alleged drug network linked to suspected kingpin Anmol alias Pinky. Moreover, police believe the case could develop into a transnational investigation because several suspects reportedly operate across different cities in Pakistan.
Authorities arrested Anmol earlier this week during a joint raid conducted by Karachi police and a civilian intelligence agency at her apartment in the city. Police linked her to two separate cases involving narcotics possession and an unlicensed weapon. Subsequently, a Karachi court granted investigators a three-day physical remand on Wednesday to continue questioning and evidence collection.
Foreign Suspects and Criminal Network
During a press conference, AIG Azad Khan revealed that investigators received information suggesting that several foreign nationals from African countries allegedly participate in the drug network. According to officials, these suspects currently reside in Lahore and may number between six and eight individuals.
Furthermore, investigators also identified the alleged involvement of several Lahore-based women connected to the same operation. Police believe the network may extend beyond Sindh and Punjab, which has increased concerns about organised cross-border narcotics activity.
Meanwhile, authorities discovered that at least 20 cases involving Anmol surfaced in Sindh. Officials stated that 17 of these cases were older records, while police recently registered three additional cases. In addition, Lahore police reportedly registered three separate cases against the suspect, and Karachi investigators have requested detailed information regarding their current status.
Law enforcement agencies continue to examine financial records, communication links, and suspected associates connected to the alleged network. Consequently, officials expect the investigation to expand further in the coming days as authorities coordinate with multiple agencies across Pakistan.
The case has attracted significant public attention because investigators suspect organised criminal elements and possible international links behind the alleged narcotics operation operating between Karachi and Lahore.
