Rescue Teams Contain Blaze After Swift Emergency Response
SADIQABAD: A coach of the Hazara Express caught fire at Sadiqabad Railway Station on Sunday, triggering an emergency response and the immediate evacuation of passengers, railway officials confirmed.
The train was travelling from Karachi to Havelian when the fire broke out in one of its coaches. As soon as the incident was detected, railway staff and emergency personnel moved quickly to evacuate passengers from the affected compartment and nearby areas as a precautionary measure.
Officials said the prompt evacuation helped prevent injuries and ensured the safety of all passengers on board.
Meanwhile, rescue teams arrived at the station shortly after receiving reports of the fire and launched firefighting operations to contain the blaze.
Affected Coach Detached to Prevent Spread
According to Sukkur Division Superintendent (DS) Farman Ghani, railway authorities detached the affected coach from the rest of the train to stop the fire from spreading to other compartments.
The move allowed rescue personnel to focus on extinguishing the flames while minimizing risks to passengers and railway property.
Officials stated that the fire was brought under control following coordinated efforts by emergency responders and railway staff at the scene.
Railway authorities continued monitoring the situation to ensure that no additional hazards emerged after the blaze was contained.
Investigation Underway as No Casualties Reported
Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, and all passengers were safely evacuated before the fire intensified.
Furthermore, officials said the exact cause of the fire could not be immediately determined. Technical teams have begun an investigation to establish how the blaze started and whether any mechanical or electrical fault contributed to the incident.
The affected coach will undergo a detailed inspection as part of the inquiry.
