Urwa Hocane’s performance as Beena in the hit drama Aap Ki Izzat has received widespread praise from viewers. However, director Saife Hasan revealed that she was not the first choice for the lead role.
Speaking in a recent interview, Hasan said casting Beena proved difficult because the character appears in two different timelines. The actress needed to convincingly portray both a college student and a mother of children aged between 10 and 12.
Several Top Actresses Considered for Beena
Hasan disclosed that several leading actresses were approached before Hocane secured the role. He named Saba Qamar, Mahira Khan, and Sarah Khan among the stars considered for the character.
At one stage, the production team also explored casting two actresses for the role. During those discussions, veteran actor Reema’s name emerged for the older version of Beena.
Ultimately, the team selected Urwa Hocane for the challenging role. Hasan praised her dedication and said she exceeded expectations throughout the production.
Director Praises Urwa’s Commitment
According to Hasan, Hocane impressed the team with her hard work and creative input. He said she consistently contributed valuable ideas and approached the project with determination.
Meanwhile, Hasan revealed that Ahsan Khan was always the first choice for Tabish, Beena’s unfaithful husband. He added that many actors likely declined the project because of the script’s length and their busy schedules.
The director noted that the script was extremely detailed and required significant commitment. He credited Hocane for trusting the project and investing fully in the role.
Hasan also revealed that the drama was almost titled Tumhari Beena. Additionally, writer Umera Ahmed expanded the story from 20 to 22 episodes.
With episode 17 recently aired, fans still have five episodes remaining to enjoy the drama’s performances and storyline.
