Bannu, Shangla and Mansehra Face Heavy Damage
At least seven people were killed and 33 others injured after powerful storms and heavy rain swept across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, several districts were hit by strong winds, lightning and torrential rain. The severe weather caused roofs and boundary walls to collapse in different areas.
Bannu, Shangla and Mansehra were among the worst-affected districts. Rescue and local authorities reported loss of life, injuries and damage to houses in these areas.
The PDMA said the casualties were mainly caused by structural collapses during the windstorm and heavy rainfall. The authority has issued a detailed damage report and advised citizens to stay alert.
PDMA Urges Public to Take Precautions
The disaster management authority has urged residents to avoid weak structures, damaged walls and unsafe buildings during unstable weather.
People living in vulnerable homes have been advised to take extra care. Authorities also warned the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, strong winds and lightning.
Emergency teams are monitoring the situation in affected districts. Local administrations have been directed to remain prepared for any further weather-related incidents.
The latest spell of rain has once again raised concerns about weak housing structures in hilly and rural areas. Roof and wall collapses remain a major cause of casualties during extreme weather in the province.
