The federal government has made NADRA-integrated digital vaccination certificates mandatory for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from September 14. Authorities said travellers must carry the digital certificate before departure.
Officials confirmed that they will not accept any other vaccination cards for travel. The move aims to streamline verification procedures for international pilgrims.
The decision follows directives issued by National Health Services Minister Mustafa Kamal. The Federal Government Civil Dispensary will serve as the authorised vaccination centre for travellers.
The directive covers vaccinations for polio, meningitis, yellow fever, and influenza. Authorities said the system will improve compliance with travel requirements.
Airlines Directed to Inform Travel Agents
Airport Health Officer Dr Sara Saeed issued a notification regarding the new rules. She directed airlines to inform travel agents about the updated requirement.
According to the notification, only NADRA-integrated vaccination proof will remain valid for travel. Passengers must also carry the digital certificate during boarding.
Officials introduced the measure to reduce confusion and inconvenience for Umrah pilgrims. They expect the change to ensure smoother airport operations.
Airport Vaccination Facility to Launch Soon
Dr Saeed announced that vaccination and online entry facilities at international departures will become available soon. Until then, pilgrims seeking airport vaccination should arrive six hours before departure.
Authorities also clarified that travellers must submit vaccination payments through the NADRA e-Sahulat platform. The digital process will support faster verification and record management.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has already strengthened vaccination requirements for pilgrims. In 2025, it made polio vaccination mandatory for all Umrah travellers.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation formally informed airlines and travel operators about the requirement. Officials continue to emphasise compliance with health regulations.
