The post-mortem report of nine-year-old Hania Adeel has revealed multiple fatal gunshot injuries. The Australian-Pakistani girl died during a firing incident involving Crime Control Department officials on June 10.
Doctors found 11 bullet and injury marks on Hania’s body. The gunshots severely damaged her heart, liver, lungs, chest, and abdomen. Furthermore, medical experts confirmed every bullet struck her before death. They said the injuries were immediately fatal.
Post-Mortem Details Strengthen Investigation
The report stated that doctors conducted the post-mortem six to eight hours after Hania’s death. Hospital authorities sealed her blood-stained clothes, X-rays, and other evidence before handing them to police.
The family had travelled to Chakwal for a holiday when the incident occurred. However, CCD personnel allegedly mistook their vehicle for one used by robbers. Consequently, officers opened fire, killing the child at the scene.
Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb described the incident as a tragic misunderstanding. She said officials completed the inquiry and submitted the report to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Officials Await Inquiry Findings
Aurangzeb announced that the CCD chief would hold a press conference on Thursday. He will present the inquiry findings and explain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court directed authorities to hear a petition seeking a judicial inquiry alongside the main case. The court will review both matters together.
Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese urged Pakistan to ensure a transparent investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the CCD official accused of opening fire remains in jail on judicial remand as legal proceedings continue.
