ISLAMABAD: The federal government has directed employees working in ministries, divisions, and other government establishments located in Islamabadโs Red Zone to work from home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The Cabinet Division issued the notification on June 22 ahead of the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The work-from-home directive applies only to government offices situated within the Red Zone. However, several key government institutions will continue operating from their regular premises to ensure uninterrupted essential services.
Meanwhile, the administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have sealed the Red Zone and closed all bus terminals at Faizabad as part of extensive security arrangements. Authorities said the restrictions will remain in place until 9:00 pm on Tuesday to facilitate the smooth movement of the visiting delegation.
President Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad for a one-day official visit. During his stay, he will hold bilateral talks with Pakistanโs top leadership to discuss regional developments and strengthen cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
Furthermore, Habibullah Abbasi, Director of Public Relations at the Iranian Presidentโs Office, said the visit aims to acknowledge Pakistanโs diplomatic role in facilitating mediation between Iran and the United States. He added that President Pezeshkian will also express gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Islamabadโs efforts in advancing dialogue.
In addition, officials confirmed that authorities have suspended operations at all Faizabad bus terminals under the security plan. Therefore, commuters have been advised to use alternative routes and make necessary travel arrangements during the temporary restrictions.
Law enforcement agencies have also implemented a comprehensive security strategy across Islamabad and adjoining areas. Security personnel have increased patrols, established checkpoints, and tightened access to sensitive locations. Moreover, officials urged residents to cooperate with police and follow traffic advisories to ensure the successful completion of the high-level visit.
