ISLAMABAD: Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) spokesperson Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan challenged JUI-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman to send his two sons to serve at Pakistanโs borders. He said he would personally pay Rs10 million to each of them if they completed two months of duty in frontline areas.
Speaking to the media, Chohan said Fazal ur Rehmanโs sons should serve in Waziristan, along the Line of Control in Kashmir, or in Siachen. According to Chohan, such an experience would help them understand the true meaning of sacrifice and the hardships faced by Pakistanโs security personnel.
Furthermore, Chohan pledged to reward each son with Rs10 million from his own pocket if they fulfilled the challenge. He made the remarks while responding to recent comments by the JUI-F chief regarding Pakistanโs armed forces.
Chohan claimed Fazal ur Rehmanโs statements had hurt the sentiments of many Pakistanis, especially because they were made during a public gathering near the Indian border in Kasur. He also criticised the JUI-F leaderโs remarks about the military and questioned his authority to comment on the sacrifices made by soldiers.
Moreover, Chohan urged Fazal ur Rehman to apologise to the nation, arguing that members of the armed forces risk their lives daily to protect the country. He also challenged the JUI-F chief to disclose his familyโs tax details if he believed soldiers served only because they received salaries funded by taxpayers.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also criticised Fazal ur Rehmanโs remarks. He described the statement as disrespectful to the sacrifices made by Pakistanโs martyrs and serving soldiers.
Asif said it was wrong to connect military sacrifices solely with salaries. He stressed that soldiers defend the country because of their sense of duty, patriotism, and commitment to national security. Although political disagreements are acceptable, he added that questioning the dedication and sacrifices of those who serve the country crosses an unacceptable line.
