The nikah ceremony of Mahnoor Safdar, daughter of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is underway at the Sharif family’s Jati Umra residence. The private event is being attended by close relatives, family members and selected guests.
Mahnoor Safdar is marrying Azan Jabbar, the son of businessman Jabbar Khalid. The ceremony has been organised as a family gathering with limited invitations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived at Jati Umra to attend the event, according to sources. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also joined the gathering.
Senior Political Leaders Attend Ceremony
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is present at the residence for the nikah ceremony. Sources said his sons, Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, are also attending the family event.
Mahnoor’s father, Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, is participating in the ceremony alongside other relatives. Family members have gathered to celebrate the occasion at the Sharif family estate.
The event has been kept private, with attendance restricted to close relatives and selected guests. Security and arrangements have been managed in line with the family nature of the ceremony.
Ceremony Follows Recent Academic Milestone
The nikah ceremony comes shortly after Mahnoor graduated in Anthropology from SOAS University of London. Earlier this month, Maryam Nawaz travelled to London to attend her daughter’s graduation ceremony.
Maryam described the occasion as a source of great pride and happiness for the family. Mahnoor studied Anthropology at SOAS between 2023 and 2026.
Mahnoor is the youngest of Maryam Nawaz and Captain Muhammad Safdar’s three children. The family previously celebrated the wedding of Junaid Safdar, who married Shanzey Ali Rohail in January.
Those celebrations continued for several days and included events at Jati Umra. The latest family ceremony has again brought together prominent political figures and relatives.
