Authorities in Punjab have intensified operations against illegal wheat hoarding and unauthorized transportation, leading to the recovery of more than 14,000 wheat bags during multiple raids in Sargodha district.
The large-scale operation was launched following directives from local administration officials to ensure strict implementation of government policies regarding wheat storage and supply management.
According to officials, the crackdown targeted warehouses and storage facilities suspected of illegally stockpiling wheat during ongoing market monitoring efforts.
Therefore, several raids were conducted simultaneously across different areas of the district.
More Than 14,000 Wheat Bags Recovered During Raids
The operation was supervised under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry, who ordered authorities to intensify action against hoarding activities.
A joint team from the Food Department and the Price Control and Revenue Anti-Profiteering Force carried out the raids across multiple locations.
Assistant Commissioner Sahiwal Khan Shams-ur-Rehman led the enforcement teams during the operation.
Meanwhile, the confiscated wheat stock was shifted to the PR Centre in Sargodha for official custody and further processing.
Officials confirmed that a total of 14,250 wheat bags were recovered during the raids conducted in different areas.
Raids Conducted Across Multiple Locations
Authorities recovered 2,000 wheat bags from a warehouse located in Lakhwal during one of the major operations.
In another raid carried out in Mochiwal, officials seized an additional 2,300 wheat bags.
Similarly, authorities recovered 3,750 wheat bags from two separate warehouses located in Abuwala.
Meanwhile, another 3,600 wheat bags were confiscated during a raid conducted in Mouza Balochan.
Officials also recovered 600 wheat bags from a warehouse situated in Mouza Sial Sharif.
Furthermore, raids conducted on two warehouses in Mouza Nooriwala resulted in the recovery of 1,000 wheat bags from each location.
Therefore, authorities described the operation as one of the districtโs largest recent crackdowns against wheat hoarding.
Administration Vows Strict Action Against Hoarders
Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry stated that operations against illegal wheat storage and transportation would continue without discrimination.
He emphasized that authorities were ensuring strict enforcement of government directives throughout the district.
Officials believe such actions are necessary to maintain wheat availability and prevent artificial shortages in local markets.
Therefore, monitoring efforts are expected to continue in the coming days across additional areas as well.
Government Focuses on Market Stability
The crackdown comes at a time when authorities are closely monitoring food supply chains and market conditions across Punjab.
Officials aim to discourage illegal stockpiling practices that could disrupt wheat availability or affect market prices.
At the same time, enforcement teams are increasing inspections of warehouses, transport vehicles, and storage facilities linked to wheat distribution.
Therefore, further operations may be launched if authorities identify additional violations.
Conclusion
Punjab authorities have recovered over 14,000 wheat bags during a major anti-hoarding crackdown in Sargodha district, as officials intensify efforts against illegal storage and transportation.
The operation targeted multiple warehouses across several areas and resulted in one of the largest wheat recoveries reported recently.
Officials say strict enforcement measures will continue to ensure market stability and prevent disruptions in wheat supply across the region.
