Usaid Rafiq has made his village proud by securing the first position in the Central Superior Services (CSS) 2025 examination across Pakistan. The young man comes from Chak 252 GB Lasori in Toba Tek Singh, a small rural area where success stories like his inspire many.
Rafiq belongs to a family deeply committed to education. His father, Mian Abid Rafiq, worked as a government school teacher before retirement, while his mother continues teaching. His sister serves as a doctor, showing the family’s strong focus on public service and learning.
In the official results, Rafiq scored a total of 939 marks, with 714 in written papers and 225 in the viva voce. However, his success came down to the wire in one subject. He managed exactly 40 marks in English (Precis and Composition) — the bare minimum to pass. A single mark less could have changed everything.
Village Legacy Fuels Inspiration
Observers praise Rafiq’s story as a powerful reminder that talent and hard work from humble backgrounds can lead to national recognition. His journey highlights the role of family support and personal resilience in overcoming limited resources in rural Pakistan.
