The Sindh cabinet approved the provincial budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on Wednesday. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will present the budget in the Sindh Assembly later today. The cabinet endorsed a total development outlay exceeding Rs 656 billion. Meanwhile, it allocated Rs 641 billion for the Provincial Development Programme.
Cabinet Endorses Welfare-Focused Budget
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired the cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister House. Provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, and senior officials attended the budget session.
The cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development and public welfare. Moreover, it emphasized poverty reduction through targeted government initiatives. Officials said the budget reflects the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Therefore, the government introduced several public relief measures. The cabinet also approved an increase in the minimum wage for workers. Officials believe the measure will improve financial stability for low-income families.
The cabinet appreciated Murad Ali Shah for achieving record development progress during the current fiscal year. Furthermore, members praised the government’s performance in completing ongoing development projects.
The chief minister pledged continued public service under the PPP leadership. He added that the government prepared the budget while considering every section of society. Additionally, he stressed that poverty reduction remains a top government priority.
Education and Health Receive Major Development Funds
The cabinet allocated Rs 50.12 billion for education sector development projects across Sindh. Likewise, it earmarked Rs 38.89 billion for health sector development schemes.
Officials confirmed that both sectors remain central to the government’s development agenda. Furthermore, the budget includes funding for several ongoing education and healthcare projects.
The government expects these investments to improve essential public services. Consequently, officials believe the new budget will support sustainable development across Sindh.
