ISLAMABAD: The Sindh Assemblyโs budget session has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, June 17, during which Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will present the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, according to 24NewsHD TV. The session marks the beginning of key fiscal deliberations for the new financial year.
Before the budget is presented in the assembly, the Sindh Cabinet will meet to formally approve the proposed financial plan. This step will finalise the policy direction and spending priorities for the province ahead of the session.
Budget Session and Legislative Process
Officials indicate that the budget session is likely to continue for around five days. During this period, lawmakers will debate key allocations, review proposals, and also consider the introduction of a supplementary budget. The provincial assembly is expected to pass the budget during the following week after discussions conclude.
The session will focus on development priorities, recurring expenditures, and salary-related adjustments for government employees. Lawmakers will also scrutinise fiscal planning for key sectors including education, health, and infrastructure.
Rs4 Trillion Budget and Employee Relief Measures
According to sources, the Sindh budget for 2026-27 is expected to be around Rs4,000 billion. The proposed financial plan includes significant relief measures for government employees and low-income workers.
The government is likely to propose a 10 percent increase in salaries and pensions for provincial employees. In addition, the minimum wage is expected to rise by Rs5,000, bringing it up to Rs45,000 per month.
Furthermore, the budget aims to balance development spending with fiscal discipline while addressing inflationary pressures affecting households. Officials say the proposals are designed to support workers while maintaining stability in provincial finances.
Meanwhile, the upcoming budget will also outline development priorities and sectoral allocations, although detailed figures have not yet been officially released.
The provincial government is expected to present a development-focused budget while ensuring continued support for social welfare programmes and ongoing infrastructure projects across Sindh.
