LAHORE: A second group of 337 Indian Sikh pilgrims arrived in Pakistan through the Wagah Border to attend the annual death anniversary commemorations of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Officials warmly welcomed the visitors upon their arrival.
Representatives of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) received the pilgrims. Senior officials, including ETPB Chairman Qamar-ul-Zaman and PSGPC President Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, attended the reception.
Pilgrims Praise Arrangements
Speaking at the ceremony, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said the ETPB had made comprehensive arrangements for accommodation, meals, and other essential services. He also welcomed the strong participation of young Sikh pilgrims, saying it reflected their deep connection with their religious heritage.
Meanwhile, Chairman Qamar-ul-Zaman reaffirmed Pakistanโs commitment to promoting religious tourism and interfaith harmony. He said the government continues to provide Sikh pilgrims with a safe, peaceful, and welcoming environment throughout their visit.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the ETPB remains dedicated to preserving, protecting, and improving minority places of worship across the country.
Security and Main Ceremony
Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq said authorities had arranged transportation, accommodation, langar, medical facilities, mineral water, and security for the pilgrims. Rescue 1122 vehicles and ambulances are also accompanying the convoy to ensure a quick emergency response.
Moreover, representatives of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee appreciated Pakistanโs hospitality. They thanked the government for its efforts to promote religious freedom and strengthen interfaith harmony.
The main ceremony commemorating Maharaja Ranjit Singhโs death anniversary will take place on June 29 at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore. Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan and abroad are expected to attend the religious gathering.
