PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has accused the federal government of disregarding a Supreme Court directive regarding Imran Khan. He described the government’s actions as a โcompletely choreographed dramaโ and alleged authorities failed to implement the courtโs order.
Raja made the remarks while discussing a contempt of court petition filed by Advocate Uzair Karamat Bhandari. The petition seeks proceedings against officials accused of violating the Supreme Courtโs August 18 order.
The court had directed authorities to transfer former prime minister Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital. However, Raja claimed officials failed to carry out the instructions.
PTI Supports Contempt of Court Petition
Raja emphasized that the petition was a legal matter rather than a political move. He said the decision came after careful consideration by Imran Khanโs sister, Dr Uzma Khan, and her legal team.
According to Raja, the petition names jail officials, the Punjab interior secretary, government representatives, ministers, and the prime minister. He added that legal advisers considered it necessary to include these officeholders in the case.
Raja said the Supreme Courtโs directives remained unimplemented. He claimed authorities neither transferred Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital nor formed the required medical board.
PTI Calls Events a Planned Drama
Raja alleged that officials staged events to create a misleading impression. He claimed a convoy travelled from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital with Dr Faisal Sultan, causing speculation that Imran Khan was inside.
He further stated that no security concerns or road closures prevented the transfer. Therefore, he argued that authorities had no justification for failing to comply with the court order.
Raja also maintained that administrative officials could not independently ignore Supreme Court directives. He expressed confidence that court proceedings would determine who made the final decision.
The contempt petition is expected to come under judicial review in the coming days as the legal dispute continues.
