Exiled prince urges worldwide demonstrations as criticism of US-Iran agreement intensifies
Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has announced a “Global Week of Action for a Free Iran,” calling on Iranians and supporters worldwide to participate in coordinated demonstrations from July 4 to July 9.
The campaign is scheduled to coincide with the Iranian authorities’ planned burial of former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and marks six months since the outbreak of nationwide anti-government protests.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Pahlavi said the initiative aims to highlight the aspirations of the Iranian people while commemorating those killed during the recent unrest.
He urged Iranians living abroad to organize public gatherings, adding that demonstrations are expected outside United States embassies and other international locations throughout the week.
Calls for domestic and international participation
Pahlavi also appealed to people inside Iran to participate discreetly in the campaign by recording videos at gravesites, writing messages on walls, and documenting acts of peaceful resistance.
He claimed the demonstrations would honor what he described as the victims of the “Lion and Sun Revolution,” alleging that tens of thousands of Iranians had been killed during the government’s crackdown on protests.
Addressing the United States and its allies, Pahlavi urged Western governments to support the Iranian people rather than engage with Tehran’s leadership.
“Our message to the American people and the US government is clear: stand with the Iranian people,” he said.
Opposition to US-Iran memorandum
Meanwhile, Pahlavi renewed his criticism of the recently signed memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, describing the agreement as inconsistent with democratic values.
He argued that negotiations with the Iranian government undermine support for protesters seeking political change and accused the authorities of continuing executions and repression despite ongoing diplomatic engagement.
The proposed Week of Action comes as international attention remains focused on Iran’s political future, regional diplomacy, and continued debate over the recently announced US-Iran framework agreement.
