A forensic report has confirmed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s alleged involvement in the Radio Pakistan attack case linked to the May 9 unrest.
The investigation officer submitted the Punjab Forensic Science Agency report to the Anti-Terrorism Court in Peshawar on Saturday. The court was hearing FIR No. 221, which concerns the attack on Radio Pakistan during the May 9 violence.
Forensic Report Presented Before ATC
During the hearing, the investigating officer confirmed Afridi’s involvement in the case based on the forensic findings. The officer also presented the report before the court for consideration.
However, the police officer told the court that authorities had delayed submitting the forensic report. He said officials eventually presented it following directives from senior police officers.
The court will examine the forensic findings alongside reports submitted by other government departments. Consequently, the findings could play an important role in determining the next legal steps in the case.
Court To Hear Arguments On September 14
At the next hearing, the Anti-Terrorism Court will hear arguments from all parties based on the forensic report and other official documents. The proceedings will determine how the case moves forward against the accused.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned the hearing until Monday, September 14, 2026. The next proceedings are expected to focus on the evidence and reports presented before the court.
The Radio Pakistan case relates to the violent protests that erupted across Pakistan on May 9. Several government and public properties were targeted during the unrest, leading authorities to register cases against multiple individuals.
