A tragic incident in Chakwal claimed the lives of two young workers after an attempted rescue ended in disaster.
The incident took place at a private farmhouse in the Thaneel Fatuhi area, where both men reportedly drowned inside a small dam.
According to rescue officials, the accident unfolded within moments and left no opportunity for recovery before emergency teams arrived.
The incident has drawn attention because one of the victims entered the water only to save the other.
How Did the Incident Happen?
According to initial details, 24-year-old Faheem Raza was working near the dam when the accident occurred.
Faheem, son of Muhammad Raees, reportedly slipped and fell into the water. The dam was approximately 20 feet deep.
As he struggled inside the water, those nearby witnessed the emergency unfold rapidly. Soon afterward, another worker decided to intervene.
Rescue Attempt Ends in Tragedy
Twenty-seven-year-old Qaiser Abbas immediately jumped into the dam in an effort to rescue Faheem. Qaiser, son of Ghulam Abbas, reportedly acted without hesitation after seeing his colleague in danger.
However, the rescue attempt took a tragic turn. According to rescue officials, Qaiser was unable to swim. As a result, he also became trapped in the water. Despite the attempt to save a life, both men drowned before help could reach them.
The incident transformed from an accident into a double tragedy within minutes.
Emergency Response and Recovery Operation
Rescue teams responded after receiving information about the incident. However, both workers had already lost their lives before they could be pulled out safely.
Emergency personnel later recovered the bodies from the dam. After completing necessary procedures, rescue officials handed over both bodies to their families. The incident left families and local residents in shock.
Incident Highlights Water Safety Concerns
The tragedy also highlights the risks associated with entering deep water without proper safety measures. Rescue attempts often happen instinctively during emergencies.
However, such situations can become more dangerous when rescuers lack swimming ability or protective equipment.
Water-related accidents continue to pose serious risks at farms, dams, and construction-related sites.
This incident serves as another reminder of how quickly rescue efforts can turn dangerous under difficult conditions.
The loss of two young workers in a matter of moments has left behind grief and raised concerns about workplace and water safety awareness.
