ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government officials are making crucial efforts to arrange US-Iran decisive talks in Islamabad. Once the US-Iran demands are finalized, Pakistan will host the second round of the US-Iran talks in the capital city.
According to sources, the mediators are trying to arrange another meeting ahead of the beginning of the month of Moharram after Eid holidays.
Earlier, during Donald Trump’s three-day visit to Beijing, China suggested a lasting ceasefire and an end to Hormuz blockade.
To facilitate the next round of talks, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi rushed to Tehran on Saturday to discuss options to end the US-Iran conflict, said sources.
On the other hands, the US officials are also in touch with Pakistani officials for the final round of talk with Iran.
On Saturday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi landed in Tehran on a key diplomatic mission aimed at supporting efforts to revive stalled peace talks between Iran and the United States. Iranian media reported that the visit is part of Islamabadโs broader strategy to encourage regional stability and reduce tensions in the Middle East.
Naqviโs arrival comes at a sensitive time, as diplomatic channels between Tehran and Washington remain fragile despite a ceasefire that has temporarily halted recent hostilities. His two-day visit is being viewed as another attempt by Pakistan to play a mediating role in regional conflicts.
According to reports, Naqvi is in Tehran to โfacilitateโ discussions that could help restart dialogue between the two long-standing rivals. The visit highlights Pakistanโs increasing involvement in diplomatic engagement aimed at preventing further escalation in the region.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni welcomed Naqvi upon his arrival. The reception underscored the importance both sides are placing on continued cooperation and dialogue.
Pakistanโs Continued Mediation Role Between Tehran and Washington
Pakistan has been actively engaged in diplomatic outreach between Iran and the United States over the past several months. Officials in Islamabad believe that regional peace depends on sustained communication between all key stakeholders.
Earlier, Pakistanโs Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir also visited Tehran as part of broader mediation efforts. During that visit, he met Iranโs political and military leadership and discussed regional security concerns.
Field Marshal Munirโs delegation included Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, marking continuity in Pakistanโs diplomatic engagement with Iranian leadership. These meetings were aimed at supporting dialogue and reducing tensions following recent conflicts in the region.
Trump Warns of Strong Action if Talks Collapse
Former US President Donald Trump reportedly warned that Washington could revive โProject Freedom Plusโ if negotiations fail again. His statement has increased attention on the upcoming diplomatic efforts. Analysts believe the warning reflects growing frustration in the US over the prolonged deadlock and rising instability in the Middle East.
Strait of Hormuz Tensions Raise Global Concerns
The situation around the Strait of Hormuz remains tense, with fears that any escalation could disrupt global oil supplies and international trade routes. Energy markets are closely monitoring developments as uncertainty continues to impact investor confidence. Experts say successful negotiations could help reduce regional pressure and improve diplomatic stability across the Gulf region.
