Pakistan’s weather authorities have issued rain and flash flood warnings nationwide. Meanwhile, intense heat continues affecting several major cities across the country. The Pakistan Meteorological Department issued a weather advisory on Thursday. The forecast covers several regions from June 11 to June 13.
Officials expect rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad and many districts of Punjab. Moreover, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan may receive rainfall. Some areas could also experience hailstorms during the forecast period.
Flash Flood Risks Increase In Northern Areas
The National Disaster Management Authority warned about possible flash floods. Heavy rainfall may trigger flooding in vulnerable mountainous regions. Authorities identified Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, and Mansehra as high-risk districts. Similarly, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, and Rawalakot may face flooding threats.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, several districts remain under close observation. These include Gupis-Yasin, Ghizer, Diamer, Tangir, Darel, and Gilgit.
Furthermore, mountain streams and seasonal waterways may witness sudden water surges. Therefore, officials urged residents to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines.
The NDMA also issued a landslide warning for mountainous regions. The alert remains effective from June 12 until June 15.
Authorities warned that landslides could disrupt travel routes. Consequently, temporary road closures may occur along major highways.
Lahore And Karachi Continue To Swelter
Despite possible weather changes, Lahore is expected to remain extremely hot. The city may record temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius.
Humidity levels may maintain uncomfortable and muggy conditions throughout the day. Winds are expected to blow at moderate speeds.
Meanwhile, Karachi remains under the influence of intense heat. Bright sunshine and humid weather are likely to persist. Temperatures may reach between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius. Additionally, high humidity could make conditions feel even hotter.
Authorities advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight and unnecessary outdoor activities. They also recommended taking precautionary measures during severe weather conditions.
