The government of Punjab has made a significant move towards rural development by incorporating a few villages in the Rawalpindi division in its Model Village project. The purpose of this project is to enhance basic amenities in order to provide better living standards to the inhabitants of these remote areas.
This project will enable the incorporation of modern facilities in villages located in areas such as Kallar Syedan, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, and neighboring localities. Some of the facilities that will be included are drinking water supply, proper street lighting, well-paved roads, sewage disposal systems, playgrounds for kids.
Infrastructure push targets long-standing rural gaps
Work on the project would be completed via the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company, and the total amount of money to be invested would exceed Rs. 2.42 billion. According to officials, tenders have already been floated, and construction may commence once contracts are signed.
Various settlements have been chosen for this project, and some of these include Changa Bangial, Salamabad, and Jawa Village. The settlements within Kotli Sattian like Lehtrar Bala and Santh Anwali Kohati would also be considered. Besides, several other settlements such as Sultani Dhoke and Chak Baqar Shah would be considered.
Government aims for faster completion and visible impact
This initiative seeks to provide quality development to villages. The officials stressed the importance of rapid completion of the project so that the people could enjoy its benefits soon.
Furthermore, there is an expectation from the government that this would serve as a yardstick for future rural development projects in Punjab.
