The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a widespread five-day rain spell across Pakistan. A westerly weather system will affect upper regions from June 16. Meanwhile, moisture from the Arabian Sea will enter central and northern areas. Consequently, rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected until June 20.
The weather system may also produce isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during the forecast period. Moreover, several regions could experience strong windstorms and lightning.
Rain Expected Across Major Provinces
Punjab and Islamabad will receive scattered rain, thunderstorms, and dust storms with occasional heavy downpours. Cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan remain under the forecast. Similarly, Kashmir will receive rain from June 16 to 22. Gilgit-Baltistan will likely experience showers from June 18 to 22.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also receive widespread rain with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms. Furthermore, northern and northeastern Balochistan may experience thunderstorms with strong winds. Upper Sindh is expected to receive rain and dust storms during the same period. Karachi and nearby areas may also witness dust storms with light rainfall.
PMD Issues Flood and Landslide Advisories
The PMD warned that strong winds, hailstorms, and lightning could damage weak structures. Solar panels, electric poles, and billboards face increased risk during severe weather. Additionally, landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
Heavy rainfall may trigger urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, and Faisalabad. Therefore, farmers should manage crops according to changing weather conditions. Likewise, tourists and travelers should avoid unnecessary journeys during the forecast period. Authorities advised the public to stay updated through official weather advisories.
