Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar picked up the phone on Monday and held a detailed conversation with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. This call came right after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke warmly with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, creating back-to-back high-level contact that shows growing teamwork between Islamabad and Ottawa.
Canada Praises Pakistanโs Key Role in US-Iran Talks
Praise from Anand was received by Pakistan for being neutral mediators who facilitated peace talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad. She commended the success achieved by the two-weeks long ceasefire and thanked the Pakistani delegation for continuing with the process even after unsuccessful negotiations that didnโt produce any outcome. Dar informed the Canadian representative about everything that happened recently and assured that Islamabad is always willing to host further rounds when the parties are ready. In this regard, both ministers agreed that continuous international backing is essential for maintaining peace.
Furthermore, they also focused on measures that could enhance relations between their nations through improved trading, green energy projects, and personal interactions along with commitments of high-level visits over the coming months.
According to both the delegations, these were highly productive discussions looking towards the future. Both the groups had the same belief that diplomatic engagement was the only solution to stability in the Middle East region.
Pakistanโs active role in the recent US-Iran negotiations has earned fresh appreciation from Ottawa at a time when the world watches the region closely. These back-to-back talks show how Canada and Pakistan now work closely together to promote dialogue and ease tensions far beyond their own borders.
