ISLAMABAD: The federal government has earmarked approximately Rs3 trillion for defense spending in the Federal Budget 2026-27, underscoring its commitment to maintaining national security and strengthening military preparedness.
According to budget details, the allocation forms a significant component of the government’s overall fiscal framework and reflects efforts to address evolving regional and strategic security challenges. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Parliament House. During the session, cabinet members also endorsed the Finance Bill and other budget-related documents before their presentation.
Officials said the salary adjustment aims to provide relief to public-sector employees amid economic challenges and rising living costs. The increase forms part of a broader set of fiscal measures announced in the 2026-27 budget.
