ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has launched a new phase of action against illegal Afghan citizens following the expiry of the governmentโs deadline for undocumented foreign nationals. Authorities have intensified enforcement measures across the country.
The federal government has directed relevant departments to accelerate operations against Afghan citizens living in Pakistan without valid legal documents. Officials will now focus on arrests, deportations and stricter enforcement.
According to official sources, authorities will immediately arrest Afghan citizens found without valid visas. After completing legal procedures, officials will deport them to their home country.
Moreover, the government has decided to take legal action against individuals who provide shelter or rental accommodation to undocumented Afghan residents. Authorities believe such measures will strengthen enforcement efforts.
Meanwhile, officials have completed the geo-tagging and geo-fencing process for Afghan citizens across Punjab, including Rawalpindi. Authorities plan to use the collected data to support ongoing operations.
Furthermore, deputy commissioners have received instructions to speed up arrests with assistance from the geo-fencing database. Officials expect the technology to improve the identification of undocumented individuals.
The Ministry of Interior will also receive daily reports covering the progress of enforcement activities. These reports will include the number of arrests, details of ongoing operations and the status of detained individuals.
In addition, authorities will closely monitor the implementation of the campaign through regular updates from provincial administrations. The reporting system aims to improve coordination among law enforcement agencies.
Earlier, on June 28, the Ministry of Interior issued directives to all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir regarding the implementation of the nationwide campaign.
The latest phase reflects the government’s decision to tighten immigration enforcement after the deadline expired. Meanwhile, authorities continue to coordinate with provincial administrations to ensure the operations proceed according to official directives and existing legal procedures.
