Street Vendors to Pay Daily Tax From July 2026
The municipal administration in Murree has announced a new daily tax for street vendors and mobile hawkers. The revised taxation policy will take effect from July 1, 2026.
Under the new rules, balloon sellers, corn vendors, peanut and chickpea sellers, ice ball hawkers, and other mobile traders will be required to pay Rs. 200 daily. Officials said the move is part of a broader revision of municipal fees and commercial charges across the hill station.
Authorities warned that vendors who fail to pay the tax may face strict action. Their goods, carts, and selling equipment could be confiscated. Fines may also be imposed on violators.
Murree Increases Charges for Toilets, Parking and Advertisements
The revised fee structure was issued by the Chief Officer of Municipal Corporation Murree. Several public service charges and commercial taxes have been increased significantly under the new policy.
Public toilet fees in Murree have been raised from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50. Parking fees for cars and jeeps have also doubled. Daytime parking charges will now be Rs. 200, while nighttime parking will cost Rs. 300.
The administration has also increased taxes on commercial signboards and advertisements. Small shop signboards will now be charged monthly instead of annually. Company advertisement boards will face higher annual rates.
Advertisement charges on banners, utility poles, and vehicles have also increased sharply. Vehicle advertisement tax has been fixed at Rs. 20,000 per day, while company product advertisements will cost Rs. 5,000 daily.
New Tax Structure Faces Public Attention Before Enforcement
The revised taxation system also includes higher slaughterhouse charges. Tax on large animals has increased from Rs. 200 to Rs. 300, while charges for small animals have doubled to Rs. 200.
Officials confirmed that objections to the new fee structure can be submitted until June 16, 2026. Enforcement and recovery operations will officially begin from July 1.
The decision has drawn attention from local traders, vendors, and residents who may be affected by the increased operational costs in Murree.
