LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated the Virtual Center for Child Safety at Safe City, launching a new digital initiative aimed at improving child protection services across the province. The government has also made the Childrenโs Virtual Police Station operational to ensure faster response to child-related complaints.
Through this system, citizens can now report cases of child kidnapping, abuse, harassment, or molestation online with greater ease. Additionally, individuals can dial 15 and press 3 to register complaints, enabling authorities to respond promptly and initiate immediate action where required.
Moreover, the initiative integrates technology with law enforcement services to improve monitoring, reporting, and response mechanisms. The Safe City system will coordinate with relevant departments to ensure that complaints receive timely attention and proper investigation without unnecessary delays.
The Punjab government has emphasized that child safety remains a top priority under its broader public safety agenda. Consequently, officials have designed the virtual system to provide accessible support for families facing serious child protection concerns, especially in urgent situations.
Furthermore, authorities believe the digital platform will help bridge communication gaps between citizens and police services, particularly in densely populated urban areas. The system also aims to increase reporting rates by making the complaint process simpler, faster, and more secure.
In addition, the government plans to strengthen awareness campaigns so that more families understand how to use the new reporting mechanism effectively. Officials expect that the Virtual Child Safety Center will enhance overall responsiveness and improve protection for vulnerable children across Punjab.
Overall, the launch reflects the provincial governmentโs focus on integrating technology into governance to improve public safety services and ensure rapid response in sensitive cases involving children.
