KARACHI โ A woman accused her neighbour of throwing acid on her over a long-running dispute linked to a property and water supply in Korangi Crossing. Police officials registered a first information report regarding the violent incident on Tuesday. However, authorities have not yet arrested any suspects.
The victim, identified as Kiran Khan, stated that her neighbour Ali had harassed her for a considerable period. Specifically, water regularly overflowed into her home whenever Ali filled his water tank. She lodged several complaints about the inconvenience, but the issue remained unresolved. Consequently, when she stepped out of her house on June 21, Ali threw acid on her from the ninth floor of their building and fled. She noted that another woman accompanied the suspect during the attack.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that an active investigation is underway to locate the perpetrator. Investigators revealed that the incident stems from an ongoing dispute over flat possession. Both parties previously filed conflicting cases against each other. Therefore, detectives are currently examining all aspects of the legal feud.
The attack triggered strong reactions from high-ranking provincial leadership. Specifically, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah sought an immediate report from the Karachi police chief. He demanded the swift arrest of the attacker and ordered the best medical assistance and protection for the victim. He stressed that individuals who commit brutal acts do not deserve concessions.
Similarly, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar requested a detailed report from the Korangi police chief. He ordered a transparent, merit-based investigation into the crime. Lanjar emphasized that the state will show no leniency to the suspects. Furthermore, he directed officers to gather evidence legally while fully respecting the comfort of the injured woman.
