RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench has forwarded a petition seeking an FIA investigation into the killing of nine-year-old Hania in Chakwal to the agencyโs Director General. The court directed the FIA to review the matter and take action in accordance with the law.
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan conducted the hearing of the petition.
Meanwhile, officials from the Crime Control Department (CCD) and police also appeared before the court to present their initial findings regarding the case.
Court Proceedings and Legal Arguments
Police officials informed the court that a murder case had already been registered and the suspect had been arrested. However, the petitionerโs lawyer, Advocate Mian Asif Mahmood, argued that the incident required an independent investigation.
He maintained that Hania, an Australian-Pakistani girl, was killed when CCD personnel allegedly opened fire on a vehicle in Chakwal on June 10. The family was reportedly on holiday when officials mistook their vehicle for that of suspected robbers.
Moreover, the lawyer argued that the case involved serious questions of accountability. He claimed that CCD personnel were directly involved and therefore could not conduct an impartial investigation into their own actions. As a result, he requested that the FIA be assigned to investigate the matter independently.
Court Decision and Medical Findings
After hearing arguments, the court disposed of the petition and referred the case to the FIA Director General for a lawful decision. The court emphasized that the matter must be handled according to legal procedure.
Earlier, a post-mortem report confirmed that the child sustained multiple gunshot wounds. According to medical findings, 11 bullet entry and injury marks were recorded on her body. The report further revealed that critical organs, including the heart, liver, lungs, chest, and abdomen, were severely damaged due to the gunfire.
