Pakistani Rangers foiled an attack on one of their camps in Karachi on Sunday. Militants attempted to breach the security facility using explosives. However, Rangers personnel responded immediately and stopped the assault.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, militants from banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar carried out the attack. Officials described the group as an Indian proxy. The attackers first detonated an explosive device at the campโs main gate. They then attempted to enter the security perimeter.
Security Forces Repel Assault
Rangers personnel engaged the militants in a fierce exchange of fire. Consequently, security forces killed three attackers during the operation. They also arrested one wounded militant at the scene.
Officials identified the arrested suspect as an India-backed Afghan national. Meanwhile, three Rangers personnel embraced martyrdom during the gun battle. Four other security personnel also sustained injuries.
Furthermore, authorities launched a clearance operation across the surrounding area. Security forces continue searching for any remaining suspected militants.
Counter-Terrorism Operations Continue
The ISPR said security forces remain committed to eliminating externally sponsored terrorism. Therefore, counter-terrorism operations continue under the Resolve for Stability vision. Officials vowed to maintain operations until security threats are fully neutralised.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed condolences. He offered sympathies to the families of the martyred personnel. He also praised their bravery and sacrifice in defending Pakistan. Additionally, he said their sacrifices had strengthened the nation’s resolve against terrorism and reinforced its commitment to national security.
