Defence Says Names Were Added Later
A sessions court in Karachi has rejected the bail applications of two co-accused in the Anmol alias Pinki drug case.
The accused, identified as Zeeshan and Sohail, are alleged to have facilitated the main suspect in a drug-related case registered at Garden Police Station.
During the hearing on Monday, defence counsel Rehman Ghani Khattak argued that the names of both petitioners were not mentioned in the original first information report.
He told the court that the two accused were added to the case later during the investigation.
The defence requested the court to grant bail, saying the petitioners had been linked to the case without direct mention in the initial complaint.
However, the prosecution opposed the bail pleas and argued that the investigation had revealed important evidence against both accused.
Prosecution Cites Digital and Bank Evidence
Deputy District Public Prosecutor Arif Setai informed the court that the alleged role of Zeeshan and Sohail emerged during forensic examination.
He said investigators analysed the mobile phone records of the main accused, Anmol alias Pinki.
According to the prosecutor, the digital evidence pointed toward the involvement of the co-accused.
He also told the court that suspicious financial transactions were found in the bank accounts of both accused.
The prosecution claimed that money was allegedly transferred from their accounts to the main suspect and other alleged accomplices.
The court reviewed the available material, including bank records and digital evidence collected during the investigation.
In its order, the court observed that the evidence was prima facie linked to both accused.
Court Calls Alleged Facilitation a Serious Offence
The court noted that aiding or abetting the manufacture of narcotics is a serious offence under the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act.
It further observed that the investigation material suggested that the petitioners had allegedly acted as assistants to Anmol alias Pinki and another alleged accomplice, Humaira.
The court also noted that an interim challan had already been submitted in the case.
At this stage of proceedings, the court held that the accused were not entitled to bail.
As a result, the bail applications of Zeeshan and Sohail were rejected.
Police said the case remains under investigation at Garden Police Station.
Further proceedings will continue as investigators examine the wider network, financial links and digital records connected with the case.
