Authorities have reportedly sealed K2 Airways’ Karachi office following the disappearance of one of its cargo aircraft. Investigators continue examining the incident while search teams comb the Arabian Sea. Moreover, officials secured company records to support the ongoing investigation.
The Boeing 737 freighter was travelling from Sharjah to Karachi with five crew members onboard. However, the aircraft reportedly developed a navigation system problem before losing radar and radio contact.
Investigation Continues Into Missing Cargo Aircraft
According to flight tracking data, flight TA1732 cruised at approximately 35,000 feet before suddenly turning back. Shortly afterward, the aircraft entered a rapid descent and lost nearly 34,000 feet within five minutes.
Air traffic controllers said the crew never issued a Mayday distress call. Therefore, officials believe the emergency developed too quickly for the pilots to respond.
Authorities reportedly sealed the airline’s office at Jinnah International Airport. Investigators will examine records to determine the possible cause of the incident.
Search Operation Remains Underway
Rescue teams continue searching the designated area in the Arabian Sea. The Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, and merchant vessels are participating in the operation.
Naval assets include PNS Zulfiqar and PNS Hunain. Additionally, the Pakistan Air Force deployed a Saab surveillance aircraft, while the Navy dispatched an ATR aircraft.
K2 Airways identified the missing crew as Captain Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Mehmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Taufiq, Engineer Arif Siddiqui, and Muhammad Hamid.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident. He directed relevant authorities to use every available resource to locate the missing aircraft and its crew. Officials have not confirmed the aircraft’s fate, and the investigation remains ongoing.
