ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear contempt of court petitions on Thursday in the high-profile 190 million pounds case involving former prime minister Imran Khan’s legal team and the administration of Adiala Jail.
According to the cause list, the contempt petitions have been filed against the Superintendent of Adiala Jail by petitioners Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The petitions were scheduled for hearing despite procedural objections raised earlier by the Registrar’s Office of the Islamabad High Court.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will hear the matter. The bench is expected to examine the legal arguments presented by both sides during the proceedings.
The contempt petitions stem from objections raised over legal applications submitted on behalf of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. Earlier proceedings questioned whether the applications carried the required signatures, leading to procedural concerns before the court.
In addition to the contempt petitions, the Islamabad High Court will also hear the main appeals in the 190 million pounds case. The appeals remain among the most closely watched legal proceedings in the country because of their political and legal significance.
Meanwhile, the court has issued a final opportunity to the legal counsel representing Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. The bench directed the lawyers to complete their arguments at the next hearing without seeking any further delay.
The court’s directive indicates its intention to move the proceedings forward after multiple hearings and related petitions. Both the contempt matter and the appeals are expected to play a key role in determining the future course of the case.
The 190 million pounds case continues to attract nationwide attention as several petitions and appeals remain pending before the judiciary. Further developments are expected after the Islamabad High Court hears arguments from both parties during Thursday’s proceedings.
