ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Islamabad on Tuesday (June 23) for a one-day official trip focused on high-level diplomatic talks with Pakistani leadership.
According to sources, the Iranian president will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit. The discussions will focus on Iran-US dialogue developments and broader bilateral relations between Tehran and Islamabad.
Focus on Diplomacy and Regional Stability
The visit comes shortly after mediated talks between Iran and the United States were held in Switzerland. Those discussions aimed to reduce tensions and explore pathways toward ending ongoing regional conflicts in the Middle East.
Furthermore, Iranian officials have emphasized the importance of diplomacy over confrontation. President Pezeshkian recently stated that Iran has โno fear of defending its legitimate rightsโ while highlighting dialogue as the preferred route for securing national interests.
In addition, he noted that Iran should prioritize diplomatic engagement when it can achieve its objectives through negotiations. His remarks reflect Tehranโs current approach to ongoing international talks under a 60-day negotiation framework.
Internal Coordination and Policy Direction
Moreover, Pezeshkian highlighted national unity as a key achievement following recent regional tensions. He said coordination among political, military, and judicial institutions has reached an unprecedented level.
He also confirmed that the negotiation process has been shared with Iranโs leadership, including the Supreme National Security Council, where officials have contributed their views on the evolving situation.
Meanwhile, both sides are expected to use the Islamabad meetings to strengthen communication channels and explore further cooperation in regional stability, trade, and diplomatic coordination.
