Pakistani YouTuber Iqra Kanwal and her husband Areeb have secured major legal relief in a PECA case. A local court approved their bail petitions on Tuesday.
According to reports, Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui accepted the couple’s bail applications. The decision ended months of repeated court appearances linked to the case.
The couple had regularly attended hearings while seeking confirmation of their bail. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered the case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Court Approves Bail Petitions
The court’s decision allows Iqra Kanwal and Areeb to continue legal proceedings while remaining on bail. However, the case itself has not concluded.
Meanwhile, social media influencer Aroob Jatoi had already secured bail in a separate case. That matter relates to the alleged promotion of online gambling platforms.
Authorities continue investigating allegations involving digital content linked to betting and gambling websites.
FIA Continues Crackdown On Influencers
The cases form part of the FIA’s wider crackdown on social media influencers. Investigators allege several content creators promoted or endorsed online betting platforms through digital content.
Earlier this year, authorities registered cases against several prominent influencers. Those named included Ducky Bhai, whose real name is Saad Ur Rehman, Aroob Jatoi, Iqra Kanwal and Areeb.
The investigations remain ongoing as the FIA continues pursuing alleged violations of Pakistan’s cybercrime laws. Further legal proceedings are expected in the coming months.
