The latest episode of Dar-e-Nijaat has left viewers both impressed and frustrated, with its dramatic twist sparking a heated debate about religion and hypocrisy.
Episode 13 of the popular drama introduced a major turning point for Zamil, played by Nameer Khan. His decision to leave his longtime girlfriend Zaryab has become the centre of attention.
Zamil Leaves Zaryab for a Religious Woman
After years together, Zamil and his childhood sweetheart Zaryab, played by Dur-e-Fishan Saleem, had even briefly lived together.
However, Zamil abruptly ended their relationship after reconnecting with religion. He eventually married an unknown woman from a madressah without informing Zaryab.
The situation becomes even more painful when Zaryab visits his home seeking answers.
Instead of taking responsibility for how he ended their relationship, Zamil tells her that she does not meet the standards of a good Muslim wife.
“The time I spent with you was my era of ignorance. I’ve left all that and to move ahead I needed a life partner who’d help me in my religion. Someone who is pious, pure and innocent,” Zamil says.
“I think God has accepted my repentance and given her to me as a result,” he adds.
Zamil then tells Zaryab to find someone “like herself” if she wants to get married.
Zaryab Questions His Double Standards
Zaryab responds by asking whether only a man has the right to repent.
However, Zamil avoids directly answering her question. Instead, he continues explaining the qualities he expects from a religious wife while pointing out how Zaryab fails to meet those standards.
The exchange quickly became one of the episode’s most discussed moments.
Viewers particularly noticed the contrast between Zamil’s past behaviour and his expectations from his future wife.
Dur-e-Fishan Saleem Wins Praise
While Zamil’s hypocrisy frustrated viewers, Dur-e-Fishan Saleem’s portrayal of Zaryab earned widespread praise.
Her character appears heartbroken after losing the man she had supported for years.
At one point, Zaryab had even considered giving up her admission to Harvard University to comfort Zamil after he failed to gain admission himself.
Her sacrifices made Zamil’s sudden rejection even more painful for viewers.
Fans Debate Religion and Marriage
The episode also triggered a wider discussion about how people approach religion after repentance.

“Zamil is basically [a] representation of [the] average Pakistani man: khud jo marzi karo, lekin biwi hamesha naik, shareef aur parda-daar chahiye (doing whatever they feel like, but always want a wife who is pious, virtuous and keeps herself covered up).
