Salman Khan has addressed criticism surrounding the Bigg Boss 20 contestant line-up, after some viewers complained that the new season lacks enough familiar faces.
The reality show premiered on September 6, introducing 16 contestants to the Bigg Boss house. However, the casting has already sparked debate among viewers.
During the latest Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman discussed the reaction with actor Amrapali Dubey and asked whether she felt something was missing from the house.
When Amrapali said no, Salman explained that even careful planning can sometimes lead to shortcomings.
Salman Khan Defends Bigg Boss 20 Casting
Salman acknowledged that the makers had tried to carefully select the contestants for the new season.
“We thought we would carefully select the contestants, but sometimes there are shortcomings in our selection. And when you say that there are no shortcomings, we feel there has to be one or two difficult people in our house,” he said.
His comments appeared to acknowledge the criticism while also suggesting that difficult personalities could bring the drama viewers expect from the reality show.
Salman also told the contestants that hosting them was a privilege. However, he humorously referred to the behaviour and conflicts that make the programme entertaining.
“Because of your prayers, your contribution, your violations of the rules, your misbehaviour, your emotions and the tasks, and because we cut out the abuses, you will definitely make me proud,” he said.
Who Is in the Bigg Boss 20 House?
The Bigg Boss 20 line-up features actors Mahhi Vij, Aasif Khan, Aman Gandhi and Amrapali Dubey.
The season also includes singers Qazi Touqeer, Rhiti Tiwari and Yung DSA, along with YouTuber ScoutOP and content creator Arishfa Khan.
Sportsperson Mary Kom is also part of the season.
Although some viewers have questioned the casting choices, the contestants have already generated discussion through their interactions during the opening week.
Bigg Boss 20 Introduces a New Twist
Hosted by Salman Khan, the latest season began with 16 contestants entering the house.
This season has introduced a new format in which contestants receive two lives that can protect them from nominations.
The new mechanic has already played a role in the first week.
During the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Uditi Singh lost one of her lives after receiving the fewest viewer votes.
Meanwhile, Kanika Mann lost her vardaan after house captain Yung DSA decided to take it from her.
As the season progresses, the new format and the contestants’ growing conflicts are expected to shape the competition and determine whether the initially criticised line-up can win viewers over.
