The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is continuing efforts to recover data after a cyberattack disrupted its online payment system.
The incident has created significant difficulties for citizens attempting to make payments through the authority’s online portal.
According to officials, the cyberattack damaged important digital records related to bills, tax payments, and revenue.
As a result, the authority has experienced operational challenges while working to restore affected services.
Data related to payments and revenue affected
Officials said the cyberattack damaged records connected to billing, tax collection, and revenue management. Consequently, the disruption has also affected the authority’s revenue collection process.
The loss of digital records has made it more difficult for the CDA to process payments efficiently while restoration work continues.
Technical team continues recovery efforts
The CDA’s technical team has been working to recover the affected data over the past 10 days. According to officials, around 80 percent of the lost data has been successfully retrieved so far.
However, the remaining data has not yet been fully restored. The authority continues its recovery efforts to restore the complete system.
Citizens allowed to make payments without penalties
To reduce inconvenience for the public, the CDA has asked citizens to complete their pending payments within one month. According to the authority, eligible payments made during this period will not incur any fines.
The temporary relief aims to help citizens affected by the disruption while the online system remains under restoration.
Online payment portal expected to return this month
CDA officials said the online payment portal is expected to become fully operational during the current month. They added that complete restoration depends on the successful recovery of the remaining data. Until then, the authority continues working to restore normal services and minimise disruptions for citizens.
