Former college track athlete Stephen Bibelhousen has attracted attention after completing a one-mile race in 4 minutes and 17 seconds. He achieved the feat while pushing his young daughter, Blake, in a stroller.
Bibelhousen, a former Miami University runner, competed in the Guardian Mile race in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed the course across Hope Memorial Bridge while pushing his daughter.
His reported time could potentially earn him a Guinness World Record. However, officials must verify the performance before recognising him as the record holder.
Bibelhousen Runs Faster Than Current Record
The current record for the fastest one-mile run while pushing a stroller belongs to Silas Frantz. He completed the distance in 4 minutes and 26.29 seconds in June 2025.
Bibelhousenโs reported 4:17 finish is almost nine seconds faster than Frantzโs record. If Guinness World Records confirms the result, Bibelhousen would take the title.
The performance has therefore turned an ambitious race effort into a potential world-record achievement. However, the official verification process still needs to be completed.
Runner Initially Targeted Course Record
Bibelhousen said breaking a world record was not his original objective. Instead, he entered the race hoping to beat the course record of 4:44.
He also wanted to finish the mile in less than 4:30. His final time exceeded those goals by a significant margin.
The former college athlete believes he could become even faster with additional training. His strong performance while pushing a stroller has encouraged him to consider improving his time further.
Guinness Verification Still Pending
Despite the impressive result, Bibelhousen cannot claim the world record yet. Guinness World Records must officially verify the performance before recognising the achievement.
The verification process will determine whether the race met the organisationโs requirements. It will also establish whether the reported 4:17 time qualifies as a new record.
For now, Bibelhousenโs performance stands as a remarkable achievement in stroller racing. If officially confirmed, his run could replace Frantzโs 2025 mark and set a new benchmark for the event.
